Audrey N. Lopez

Audrey N. Lopez, PhD (she/her), is a researcher, curator, and writer working at the intersection of public art and urban ecologies. As Director & Curator of Public Art at The Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy in Boston, Lopez oversees the commissioning of new public art from artists at all career stages, from emerging to internationally renowned. Through her curatorial practice, Lopez collaborates with artists to develop socially engaged and site-responsive projects, often centering living materials, urban ecologies, and public histories. With over a decade of working across galleries, museums, and public sites from Southern California to New England, Lopez has organized projects from artists including Cruz Ortiz, Desert Art Lab, Larissa Rogers, Jeffrey Gibson, Vivian Tran, and Zhidong Zhang, among others. In 2024, Lopez co-curated Tanya Aguiñiga and Porfirio Gutiérrez: Sangre de Nopal at UCLA's Fowler Museum as part of The Getty Foundation's Pacific Standard Time: Art and Science Collide. Her curatorial work has been featured in Artforum, ARTnews, ArchDaily, designboom, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, KCRW, The Boston Globe, Boston Art Review, and WBUR. Prior to her tenure with the Greenway Conservancy, Lopez worked as a curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art Santa Barbara and earned her PhD from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
