ACCELERATOR

Garrett Gould

Garrett Gould (he/him) (born, Providence, RI. 1992) is a sculptor and educator working in Boston, MA. Through the process of wood carving he makes sculptures that are simultaneously “like and unlike themselves" by subverting the functions we assign and sensations we experience with objects, people, and other living things from daily life. This often results in a humorous dislocation of the forms from their functions we take for granted. Recent exhibitions include “Wild Bunch” at Atlanta Contemporary in Atlanta, GA and Future Craft at Gallery 263 in Cambridge, MA. He was a recent artist in residence at the Vermont Studio Center and currently teaches at MassArt in both the Studio Foundation and 3-D Fine Arts departments.

Garrett is also the project manager for the ICA Watershed where he works closely with artists, curators, and other industry professionals to facilitate and produce site-specific artwork for the space.
