Feel + Flow on Winter Street by Sabrina Dorsainvil

Feel + Flow is a ground mural that seeks to root the experience of passersby firmly in Downtown Crossing while celebrating the everyday moments of life. Vibrant symbols of emotion, nature, and flowing lines reflect the street’s social spirit and constant hum of life.
Pedestrians will be welcomed into the space by multicolored arches and gestures of care linking Tremont and Washington Street. The primary moments depicted—a high five, a gifted flower and a held heart— are tied together by a brilliant sun at the center of the mural. Stacked flowing lines represent movement, signaling a passageway to caring for, connecting to, and enjoying nature, community, each other, and ourselves.
“I hope it’s a joyful gesture at a place of human connection,” Dorsainvil said. “I hope it helps people feel like they’re being held in that space, even for a moment while they’re passing through.”
Sabrina Dorsainvil
Sabrina Dorsainvil is a Boston, MA based public artist, illustrator, and civic designer whose work ranges from playful drawings to strategic design projects. Fascinated by people and the way we interact with each other and everyday spaces, Sabrina’s artwork focuses on finding simple vibrant ways of celebrating people and their humanity. From large-scale murals to participatory art-making, Sabrina’s work in the pursuit of communal care, critical reflection, collective imagination, and human connection in the face of historical tools of exclusion.
Sabrina was the first Director of Civic Design for the City of Boston’s Mayor’s Office of New Urban Mechanics and is currently a member of Agncy, a non-profit design firm. As a designer Sabrina has worked with numerous community-based organizations, non-profits, large institutions, and startups on issues regarding social and spatial justice. In these roles Sabrina uses creative approaches to address issues around public health, civic participation, care infrastructure, and the built environment.
Sabrina holds a BFA in Industrial Design from Massachusetts College of Art and Design (MassArt) and an MS in Design and Urban Ecologies from Parsons School of Design. Sabrina has been a Boston Center for the Arts studio resident, Neighborhood Salon Luminary at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, and an Institute of Contemporary Art Boston’s Art Lab visiting artist.
