Communications Assistant
Time Status & Schedule: 40 hours/week, Creative Professional Exemption
Work Location: Hybrid — up to 2 remote days per week; in-office Mondays and Thursdays
Compensation: $40,000 - $45,000 based on qualifications

Job Overview
The Communications Assistant is a creative and detail-oriented storyteller who ensures the Triennial’s bold, public-facing brand is consistently expressed across digital channels. They are responsible for day-to-day social media planning, scheduling, and publishing; helping organize visual content libraries; supporting written content development; and assisting in execution of digital campaigns. This role balances content production with strategic thinking—building collaborative partnerships with like-minded organizations, influencers.They report to the Communications Manager and work closely with the Communications Associate.

The Communications Assistant succeeds when:
Maintain a quarterly social media partnership calendar with at least 3 new partnerships per quarter
Support engagement growth by 15% annually by helping deliver high-quality, consistent content across platforms
Deliver 25+ monthly social media posts
Assist in managing delivery timeline for all written digital content (blogs, newsletter, and website content)
Content consistently aligns with brand voice and style guide
Respond to social DMs within 2 business days
Strategic co-promotion campaigns executed with at least 3 mission-aligned organizations per Triennial season
Primary Responsibilities
Strategic Media Planning + Execution
Plan and schedule daily social media content across platforms using Hootsuite
Draft, revise, and post content that aligns with Triennial voice and campaign goals
Set up and run paid ads on Instagram, Facebook, and other platforms as needed
Respond to social media messages, tags, and comments in a timely, thoughtful manner
Identify and develop social media partnerships with community organizations, influencers, and arts platforms to amplify reach
Develop collaborative campaigns with artist, community, and institutional partners
Monitor social and cultural trends to suggest new formats and angles for engagement
Influencer + Partnership Support
Help identify influencers and user generated content aligned with Triennial mission and programming
Draft outreach emails and help manage influencer participation (e.g. confirming attendance, sharing guidelines, managing budgets)
Track influencer deliverables and gather analytics for campaign recaps
Content Creation + Editorial
Write and edit engaging, on-brand content for social media campaigns; support writing of special stories for eNews, the Journal, and other content platforms
Develop short-form videos and visual content for digital platforms
Coordinate content capture at public events and oversee asset collection from artists and collaborators
Assist with maintaining content libraries
Planning + Analysis
Maintain and share a cross-platform content calendar with Communications team
Track and report on digital metrics monthly; make recommendations for optimization
Manage and execute paid social media campaigns in collaboration with the Communications Manager, including: audience targeting, budget allocation, scheduling, and performance tracking
Work with Communications Manager to streamline internal content delivery systems
Work with Communications Manager to develop high-level Social Media Strategy
Team + Administrative
Attend team meetings and provide support for Communications projects as needed
Support maintenance of asset library
As needed, support broader department projects (e.g., media tracking, signage audits, template creation)
Qualifications
2–4 years of experience in communications, digital media, or marketing
Proven experience creating and executing social media campaigns on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and TikTok
Strong writing and digital communications skills
Experience creating social media content (graphics, photos, and video)
Experience managing paid social media campaigns, including Meta Ads Manager or similar tools
Ability to analyze organic and paid ad performance data and adjust strategy to optimize results
Comfort with web tools (Squarespace), email marketing (Mailchimp), design tools (Canva or Adobe), video and photo editing for social, and scheduling platforms (e.g., Hootsuite)
Knowledge of Boston arts and culture landscape is a plus
Strong commitment to equity and accessibility in public engagement
Hours
This is a full-time, 40-hour/week position in The Triennial’s open floor-plan office with the option for some remote work.
Compensation
Compensation is $40,000 - $45,000 with unlimited paid vacation (Responsible Vacation Policy), 14 paid holidays, paid sick time, and healthcare and dental benefits.
