Natal Conversations

  • Lot Lab (Charlestown Navy Yard) 1 5th Street Boston, MA, 02129 United States (map)

Rooted in joy as resistance, this one-day public art activation, Natal Conversations, is led by
Stefanie D. Belnavis, MA, BC-DMT, LMHC, a differently abled Black and Indo-Jamaican-American perinatal movement psychotherapist, interdisciplinary artist, and spatial justice practitioner. Presented in collaboration with artist Alison Croney Moses and hosted by the 2025 Boston Public Art Triennial, this offering invites currently pregnant, postpartum, grieving, and parenting people of color, and the birthworkers, perinatal practitioners and healers who support them, into a collective space of healing, remembrance, and reclamation.

Held at the site of “This Moment for Joy,” Croney Moses’s public sculpture honoring Black maternal identity, this gathering is an embodied tribute to the sacred stories of Black and Brown
birthing people. Through movement, dialogue, visual storytelling, and ancestral remembrance,
the event centers perinatal wellness and community care as essential acts of liberation.
This gathering activates the sculpture This Moment for Joy not only as a site of reflection but as a sanctuary of collective truth, movement, and imagination. Join us as we breathe life into our stories, where every story heals and liberates.

This program is free to attend. Advanced registration is required.
